Have you ever heard “This is America”? The first rap to ever win the grammy award for song of the year and record of the year? Well, the author, Childish Gambino, is a black man, who grew up in a tough childhood and went through a lot of difficulties.

He never imagined he was going to become one of the most influent black man in the entire world and has an incredible overcoming story. Nowadays, Donald is a successful actor, musician, comedian and director, using his past experiences as an inspiration to his works.

Childhood
Born on September 25th in 1983 at Edwards Air Force Base in the desert outside of Los Angeles, at a very young age, he relocated to Stone Mountain, Georgia, where he was raised. The celebrity lived with his mother, who was a day-care manager, father, that worked in a post office, sister, brother, a rotating cast of foster kids and two adopted siblings. He described his household as chaotic sometimes. The musician also grew up in a religious household. He believes that even though being a Jehovah’s Witness made his classmates in school don’t fully understand him, it helped him seeing the world in a different and more creative way, being later explicit in the lyrics of his songs.Looking back to his childhood, the actor says that his early life wasn’t easy. His family was one of a few African American families in the area and he recalls that there were confederate flags everywhere and that the parents of his friends didn’t want their daughters to date him. Furthermore, according to the entertainer, he remembers seeing drug dealers and people dying in front of him. Instead of giving in, the musician dreamed of a bright future and even wrote himself a letter at age 11 saying “I’m gonna try and I’m gonna save the world”.
Adulthood
After school, Donald Glover decided to go into dramatic writing in the University of New York, where he lives until nowadays, and graduated in 2006. In 2009, Donald Glover participated as an actor, along with DC Pierson and Dominic Dierks, writer and music producer, from his biggest success until that date, “Mystery Box” which was a huge mark in his career. Seven years after “Mystery Box”, Child Gambino had his first son Legend Glover, with his wife Michelle White, married with him in that year, who gave birth to Glover’s second son, Drake Glover in 2018, and to his third son, Donald Glover III in 2018. Child Gambino is an atheist and considers himself as a person of great willpower that aim to his objectives and will not stop until he reaches it. During his career as an actor, singer, comedian and director, Glover gained a lot of relevance as a black man.

Accomplishments
Donald Glover is a man of countless achievements. Since 2017, he has received 8 awards from the artistic world and was the first black man to win the Emmy for Outstanding Director of a Comedy Series, in the same year. Throughout his career he has acted in 26 films and written screenplays for 6. In November of 2011, Glover entered in the music industry, under the name Childish Gambino, with the album "Camp".

His peak was in 2018 with the album "Aware my love!" featuring the song "This is America" in which he portrayed various social issues. The song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was awarded as: Record of the year, Song of the year, Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Music Video.

In conclusion, he has been and continues to be an extremely important person to society. Above all, Glover has inspired people all over the world, especially black people who face difficulties on a daily basis to achieve all their dreams. As he said: "You have all the shine you ever need, don't let people say you don't."
