What to look out for:
Loading...
Loading...
- have you heard of the website the news is on?
- is there a contact us or about us page?
- are the sources of information attributed?
- is the story being reported elsewhere by reputable sources?
- is the spelling and grammar correct?
- is the article dated?
- is the url suspicious?
- are any photos credited to the photographer?
- might the photos have been edited?
- does the article carry the writers full name and email?

If any of this doesn't look right, there's a chance it's fake news.

Checking images:
When you have an image that may have been zoomed in or cropped, try a reverse image search to see if you can find a larger version of the image that includes more information.
If that search doesn’t pull anything up, then try a search for “similar images”.
When you have a video that has been cropped or is a recording of the original, then try carrying out reverse image searches with screenshots from the video.
