Synopsis
The Catcher in the Rye follows a dissatisfied Holden Caulfield as he leaves his school and journeys through New York City on his own in search of something important to him. Along the way, he meets a wide range of people, which each give us insight as to who Holden is. We slowly piece together Holden's unique view of the world as he progresses forward, until he finally returns to his family's apartment.
Recommendation
This novel is best read by young adults, as there are many complex elements. The novel inspires one to question their surroundings and the people that make up them. However, it can also inspire one to appreciate the bonds they have with their friends and family. The novel depicts a profound and well-written character that has stood the test of time and can strike a chord with almost anybody.
