PREFACE

Dear friends,

It is with great pleasure that we present to you this e-book which is the fruit of the efforts of our students and teachers in the context of the Erasmus+ Accreditation program titled "Environmental Awareness" which was conducted between 1st June 2022 and 31st August 2023.

In our school, we aim to form active citizens, so, in addition to academic knowledge, we try to offer students experiences that will lead them to acquire valuable skills for their adult life. We hope that the actions of this program as reflected in this e-book meet the above objective.

I would like to thank all the colleagues of our school who worked on this project, as well as the colleagues from Colegiul Economic, Buzau, of Romania and from Lycée St D'Albrett, St Germain of France, for their contribution.

AIM OF THE PROJECT

The Program aims to raise awareness among students and teachers on environmental and climate change challenges. Our target is to develop capacities in various areas related to sustainability, the development of environmental sector strategic skills and methods, as well as future-oriented curricula that respond more effectively to the individual needs of students. Also, testing innovative practices will be used in order to prepare all school members (pupils, staff, and parents) to become real agents of change (e.g. saving resources, reducing energy consumption to leave a smaller ecological footprint, preferring recycling, choosing sustainable food choices, etc.). Priority is given to planning activities that will result in behavioural changes in terms of preferences, consumption habits and lifestyle.

"Environmental Awareness for Sustainable Development"

During the course, we had the chance to deconstruct the notion of environmental awareness. Also,we had a deepen undestanding of our role as teachers in education. Furthermore, we learned how to listen to nature the sea, the wind, the trees and we discovered ways to raise awareness of our students towards the natural environment. Additionally, an experimental activity of cleaning the sea shore gave us the idea to organise a similar activity with our students in our forest.

Moreover, we had the opportunity to gain knowledge about the new technologies on alternative forms of energy and how the water distribution and supply are implemented in the city of Barcelona. Finally, we were very excited with our visit to the "CosmoCaixa", a very interesting technological museum where all laws of physics state the facts.
Last but not least, we had the chance to get to know the life and the culture of Barcelona.
