Workshop Report

The first day, Monday 28th June 2021, the virtual meeting was opened by greetings of our Headmaster. The partner colleagues were shown images of Vasto, an Italian town in the province of&nbsp;Chieti, Abruzzo. Then there was shown a video, taken by a drone, shooting the most suggestive places of the town. Later, teachers knew the main institute“Giuseppe Peluzzo”, by means of a video with children saying hello. During the morning, our school&nbsp;“Nuova Direzione Didattica” was introduced with all information concerning its Plan of Education&nbsp;Offer. Then the Italian Education System was described. As final moment, there was the explanation of the meeting plan for the following days.

On Wednesday,&nbsp;30th June 2021, at the Town Hall, in the Board Room, the&nbsp;presentation of the event “ The non hostile communication" was shared.&nbsp; In videoconference, the Education Councilor, Anna Bosco, told partner colleagues&nbsp;&nbsp;the commitment the Municipality put in place by a series of initiatives to raise awareness among the young people in the correct use of communication and web tools. The Nuova Direzione participated in the contest “Unlock" organized by the Municipality dedicated to raising awareness of children and&nbsp;kids in a correct communication throughout the web and&nbsp;the real life. Our children made some unpublished songs and videoclips, that were awarded as winners by a&nbsp;selection board.

During the morning, there was the sharing of works and&nbsp;videoclips of our pupils, accurately followed&nbsp;by teachers. The Headmaster underlined that the importance of a certain kind of communication, which should lead back the human being and the student to the internalization of non hostile language, becomes the main goal of a new didactic path dedicated to good practices, starting from Infant school and&nbsp;going towards a vertical training to extend to future generations. For us teachers, having worked with our children on a&nbsp;“Non hostile Communication" was a huge opportunity allowing a greater reflection on how to communicate and how to react to hostile words, which often ruin relationships. An hymn against&nbsp;bullying and&nbsp;cyberbullying and an invitation to engage yourself to build by means of words.

Between the&nbsp;28th June and the&nbsp;2nd July 2021, at Nuova Direzione Didattica&nbsp;Vasto, Italy, it was held on videoconference the meeting of the transnational project within the Erasmus + Project&nbsp;“Conscious Technology for the Future”. The project was&nbsp;carried out in partnership with Turkey (leading school), Bulgaria, Poland, Romania. Teachers worked together on a common issue: prevention the technology addiction and contrast the phenomenon of cyberbullying. The online meeting was followed by a hundred teachers.

On Friday, 2nd July 2021, in the meeting opening a video was shared, being prepared by Italy&nbsp;for all teachers participating in the transnational meeting. In the video some of the most significant moments of Erasmus project “Conscious Technology for the Future” scrolled on. Later, the coordinator of the leading school, Cengiz Ozcan, showed the presentation of all activities made by partner schools throughout the project. Then, teacher Anna, coordinator of Polish team, shared the presentation of the activity: “Past to future children’s games”. Finally there was the&nbsp;ceremony of delivery of certificates. Each&nbsp;project coordinator was shared a&nbsp;“Certificate of attendance”. For Nuova Direzione Didattica&nbsp;Vasto, having participated in the project “Conscious Technology for theFuture” was a great opportunity; cooperation, collaboration, sharing of experiences and exchange of ideas were important elements for the success of this project.

On Thursday, 1st July 2021, there was the sharing of&nbsp;presentations of&nbsp;traditional games: “Past to future children’s games”. The day issue, a project goal, was to teach our children some&nbsp;traditional games as an&nbsp;alternative to computer and online games, reducing the use of useless technology. The traditional games, the past ones, allow to develop physical and psychological children abilities: speed, reflexes, precision, coordination of oneself in the space, sense of rhythm and time. Playing makes them more capable and intelligent. Later a presentation on Pixel Art was shown, as a&nbsp;guide in the world of computer technology. By the Pixel Art, some paintings on the basis of a grid were realized; children coloured single squares and followed easy legends, mainly being clear and easy to read.

Pixel Art is useful from a didactic point of view and its utilization in classroom represents a great opportunity of technology in education. By means of play and fun, children develop the ability of observation, stimulate art and creativity, raise the sense of&nbsp;orientation, moving on a frame. During the sharing of good practices , it was very&nbsp;interesting to discover and know the different traditional games of countries. Proposing to our children&nbsp;some traditional games they do not know will be an added value for each one of them. During the good practices, all teachers agreed that the activity “Past to future children’s games” was a really interesting and involving activity. Traditional games helped children to improve their social and sport skills. Project goal fully achieved.

The Seminar speakers were high professional people coming from schools, universities, politics, courts. Within the listeners there were the students of the course “Science of primary education” from the University of L’Aquila. It was a good chance to compare opinions, that offered a practical, other than spreading, approach to teachers and parents, no one excluded, because it is everyone’s task to engage in the prevention and contrast to bullying and cyberbullying: the Juvenile Court of L’Aquila, the Post&nbsp;Police, the Guarantor for Minors, the Parliamentary Commission for Childhood and Adolescence, the University&nbsp;of L’Aquila, the Nuova Direzione Didattica, the Regional Education Department&nbsp;for Abruzzo,the Lawyers’ Order of Vasto. Besides, during the morning, we shared the presentation of some&nbsp;of many activities teachers have worked on with children all year long.

On Tuesday, 29th June 2021, we shared the presentation of the&nbsp;Seminar&nbsp;NUOVA DIREZIONE DIDATTICA had planned for&nbsp;28th May 2021&nbsp;on the issues of&nbsp;bullying and cyberbullying. Since a few years our School has been promoting activities of information and training for pupils, teachers, parents, sharing practical proposals with foreign partners within Erasmus projects and spreading conferences together with local authorities and police, knowing that it is never too early to talk to primary school children and, by the right approach, also to the smallest ones.
