‘Professional Development to Shape Lives’
Teaching School Hubs (TSHs) are school-led centres of excellence in professional development, serving a designated area of the country. Acting with the overarching consideration that ‘effective professional development is the most important factor in school improvement,’ these 87 centres of excellence have a clear focus and mandate to support in delivering on the commitments set out in the Teacher Recruitment and Retention Strategy, creating a world-class teacher development system by transforming the training and support teachers and school leaders receive at every stage of their career.

These teacher development reforms aim to create a ‘golden thread’ of high-quality evidence underpinning the support, training, and development available through the entirety of a teacher’s career.  As TSHs we provide evidence-based programmes and qualifications, helping to support teachers to progress from their initial teacher training (ITT) through whichever career pathway they choose.

We are delighted to partner with Kent and Medway Training, acting as a Gateway to high quality Initial Teacher Training
Vision and Values
Vision
Our ambition is to provide excellent professional development opportunities to support educators as they shape the lives of every child in our region.

Values
The following provide a framework for our ways of working:

Integrity
We deliver on our promises, doing what we say we are going to do.  We are gracious and non-judgemental, reflecting on our mistakes, acting with respect and confidentiality.  We are welcoming, approachable and hospitable.  We work with our partners for the common good.

Support and Collaboration
We value equality and believe in the uniqueness and worth of each individual, and the experience they bring.  We look to work positively, capturing what’s good and building upon it, providing holistic support and nurture for both staff and pupils.

Shared Ambition
We share a passion to make a lasting difference.  We will go the extra mile to make a change for the better and prioritise activities which improve children’s lives.

Research Led
We will be grounded in a research-led approach and encourage children and adults to try new things, informed by best-practice.  We will challenge and learn from each other, working together to establish a lasting impact.
We know that consistent high quality teaching leads to successful outcomes for children. We are proud of our long standing relationship with Kent and Medway Training and the excellent provision it offers to those embarking on a career in teaching.

TGTSH work closely with KMT to offer a number of routes to enter the profession and gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Most trainees follow one of the School Direct routes to QTS.

The School Direct (tuition fee) programme allows you to learn on the job as your training is based in a KMT partner school that will support you as you work towards QTS.

The Salaried Programme is an employment- based route for graduates, typically with some experience of transferable work history. You’ll earn a salary while you train towards your QTS, you won't need to pay any tuition fees.

KMT can provide trainees with the opportunity to gain level 7 PGCE ( Post Graduate Certificate in Education) qualification. This is a distance learning PGCE, completed online and delivered and assessed by Leeds Beckett University.
Entry Requirements :

The following are the qualifications you will need in order to enroll on the Initial Teacher Training :

O’ Level/GCSE A-C pass grade/new grade Level 4 – 9 in English & Mathematics (and Science for Primary applicants).

A degree classification of 2:2 or better is required however, KMT will consider 3rd Class degrees when supported by other strengths and circumstances. For Secondary courses this ideally needs to be in an area relevant to the subject in which you will be training. See note 2 below.

Other qualifications and personal experiences of working with young people, strengthen all applications considerably.
