TECHNO-PSYCHO EFFECT THEATRICAL PLAY

Our play consists of two scenes:

The first scene takes place in a living room, the whole family is gathered there due to Covid restrictions, but each and every member has a different kind of technological addiction apart from the grandma

   Mother: Zizel, she is a teacher
   Father: Ali, he is a menager of a pharmaceutical company
   Son : Doruk (10 years old)
   Daughter: Selena (16 years old)
   Friend : Lucas (16 years old)
   Grandmother Alice: (75 years old)
   Daughter:Emma(17 years old)

MOTHER: Doruk, you play too many computer games. Don't your eyes hurt?

DORUK: No, mom. It is very enjoyable. If you try it, you will understand what I mean.

GRANDMOTHER: What can you play with this box? It is just a box, with no feelings Doruk! Playing is feeling, playing is freedom!

DORUK: Come on granny, do not start again! I am playing 'warcraft'. It is an amazing game...I have so many friends in this game. I do not need to do anything else. I am bored to go out..Nothing to say..I love warcraft.

MOTHER(calling from the hall): I'm going shopping. Doruk, will you come too?

DORUK: Mom I said I DON'T want it !

GRANDMOTHER: Doruk, aren't you exaggerating, son?
(Selen is talking to Lucas on the phone not being aware of anyone in the room. Father hears the noise and comes from the kitchen.)

FATHER: What is going on? I'm having my online meeting right now. Could you please lower your voices down?

GRANDMOTHER : Are all of your workers in OUR kitchen? Let me see them!

MOTHER: No, no, no, no! They are on the computer.

GRANDMOTHER : How did they all fit in the computer .

FATHER(upset): Can you take anything seriously?

(Selena interrupts the conversation)
SELENA: Dad, I have no internet connection and I am in the middle of IMPORTANT CONVERSATION with my friend Lucas. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

GRANDMOTHER : Internet connection? Oh, dear Selen! Who hurts you? Who is this internet connection who made you sad?

SELENA: Granny, internet connection is not a person it is, how can I say...it helps us to meet my friends.

GRANDMOTHER: BUT I have not seen any friends here, where are they? In this box again..?

SELENA: Yes granny this box helped me contact my friends through the pandemic. I felt so lonely but this box is helping me to communicate with my friends. I was happy.

GRANDMOTHER : this is not happiness, you have the illusion that you are happy, but in fact this is not real happiness but virtual reality. Pandemic is a special case, but you were stuck to this thing before too, LIVE your life, LIVE the moments.

SELENA: Dad, will you come ? Granny has started philosophising again.

FATHER: Selen, shhhh, I am having a meeting on the best vaccine for covid_19.

SELENA: But Dad, my favourite singer says that the best vaccine..is...

FATHER: What?????How can she know and talk about such a serious case? It is media disinformation. Please Selen be critical , do not believe anything you read on social media.
(Dad leaves the living room frustrated. Mom also leaves the room.)

SELENA: Good idea, I think a good board game will do us good, it seems right to unplug the internet from time to time ... Leave our phones aside.

DORUK: Yes let's just try to have some fun without the internet. We are stuck in our houses anyway. What should we play? What about monopoly?

SELENA: Oh yes I am good at monopoly. Get ready to lose!

DORUK: Huh you wish!

GRANDMOTHER: She is holding the cell phone, and she has an expression of satisfaction on her face. At last, they stopped being in front of the screen all the the time.

SELENA: (She feels excited and creative....
But she stops for a while, she needs to check her phone, her messages..... )

SELENA: Wait, I need to check my phone.

DORUK: No, stop.... go on forget about it...Let' s play!

SELENA: You are more than right. Let's play! Let's construct a company , different from other ones. What do you say ?A large company that will promote activities of 'LIVING THE MOMENT'.

DORUK: Selena, I am amazed! Yes,I would like such an unconventional company! Different from the other ones.This company can warn students as well as children about the dangers of overusing technology!!! It will encourage them to go out and liveeeeeeee! Lets call mum and dad to play with us! Mum! Dad! Come on! We are going to do something together!

(They started promoting their campaigns and activities and many people joined them so they spent more time without the internet and without getting bored. We should take them as an example and spend more time with our family and friends without the internet )

SELENA: Who is the best expert of living the moment: What about looking for a name for the company? What is the most appropriate, the funniest and the most appealing?

DORUK: Good idea Selena!!! But right now I don't have any ideas.

SELENA: Why do you say that? do you always think about the videogames?

DORUK: I will try.... Let me think... Do you like " The Internet teamj"?

SELENA:I don't think it's a good idea. This sounds like something that has to do with internet and we have to reduce the use of internet.

DORUK: Ok... you are right... in fact t's a good idea because I like play game with friends in real life.

SELENA: We should ask Grandma to help us. She is full of life even at this age. When it comes to living the moment she knows much more about it than we do. She is the expert when it comes to living the moment.

DORUK: Of course grandmother is sleeping in her armchair snoring.

SELENA: Granny?

GRANDMOTHER: What? Where am I?

DORUK: Granny wake up! You are missing the best part!

FATHER: Live the moment, let's create a camp.

GRANDMOTHER:camp's name should be Live or like moment.

MOTHER: Must be in nature.

MOTHER: Have sports equipment in the camp.

GRANDMOTHER: But no electricity in this camp. And no technology.

SELENA AND DORUK TOGETHER: But!?! OK. OK. You won!

GRANDMOTHER: Well done. Think now and see what you can do.What could be more valuable than living the moment. I am proud of you. You will accomplish greater things in the future.

SELENA: We will buy games that have nothing to do with technology and we will not be dealing with technology.

DORUK: Yes, great idea and so we will stay away from technology and have a good time so let's go.
DORUK: We spent all our days at home looking at the phone, but now I realize how bad it is. What do you think of this Selena?

SELENA: Yes, you are right. We spent all our days at home and we are addicted to the internet. That's so bad. We must do something without internet.

DORUK: I aggree with you.Do you have any idea?

SELENA: Yes, of course.Let's set a day. Let's spend time with our friends. Let's play games. Let's limit the phone to 2 hours.

DORUK: Perfect idea. It's a social life without a phone. Even the thought of it is so beautiful.
